Our family name and lineage – can be traced back 12 - 15 generations in New Mexico (1598!) and all the way back to Northern Spain. In celebration of our Spanish descent and history in New Mexico we created the name: Vigilante Guides!
Why? Because we live life differently. We are caretakers.
Born and raised in Chama, a small village in Northern New Mexico, 2 hours North of Santa Fe. I've been a New Mexican all my life and love what my State has to offer. From the history to the outdoors, the food to the chile, my home is worth sharing. Combining my love for travel, food, people, culture, and my deep New Mexican roots inspired me to create Vigilante Guides. We want tourists and locals alike to be able to experience our city the way we do every day – to live like a local.
Paul spent 40 years as an art director at CBS and ABC Television in Manhattan before coming to Santa Fe where he was immediately captivated by the richness of the land and its people. A longtime outdoor sports enthusiast and history buff, he devoured as much information as he could about the Land of Enchantment before joining Vigilante Guides. Rain or shine, Paul now enjoys sharing his excitement about Santa Fe’s culture, history, and architecture with visitors from all over the world.
I can't say enough about Jerard and the two days we spent with him living like locals in Northern New Mexico. Our first day was a guided walking tour of Santa Fe with a fabulous included lunch at Coyote Cantina, ending the day playing with clay and creating our own treasures at Pottery Pub. We learned so much from Jerard about the land, people, and cultures that make NM unique.
By far the best guided tour with food and drinks. Plenty of history to learn. We had the best time eating,drinking, and learning about the culture of Santa Fe New Mexico!! Jerard Thank You for making my birthday awesome! Thanks to the group of sisters and their hubbies for a great time! This is a must do in Santa Fe, you’ll love it!!
Gerard did a fantastic job guiding us through Santa Fe. He was knowledgeable, articulate, and took the time to tailor the experience to our specific interests. Booking this tour for our first day was the best decision we made; the insights he shared set us up for a truly successful trip. I highly recommend Vigilante Guides for anyone visiting the area.
Gerard crushed it. We have done these tours in numerous cities, and he did a fantastic job. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable. ample supply of grub and beverages. We had a small group today which other operators might have cancelled, but we had a great time. We will return for a future tour when we are back through!
Jerard was fantastic. One of the best tours my wife and I have ever taken. Great history background and then the food tasting was perfect. He definitely brought Santa Fe to life. Tour was about 3-3.5 hrs and was an excellent value considering the food and tip for the restaurants was included. Recommend to anyone new to Santa Fe.
